Beer: The Athens Way

If you talk to any of our students, they are likely to tell you that the program (and what you get out of it) is what you make of it (and put into it). Similar things can be said about the city of Athens.

If you take the time to pursue your interests while in Athens, you will meet wonderful people and Athens will start to feel like home. The craft beer community in Athens is no different and it is a great example of the spirit of support and collaboration that you will find in Athens and in our program. We have a great music scene, great sports teams, and we also have great beer (award-winning, actually)! Terrapin Beer Co. was the first to open its doors in 2008 and by 2011, Five Points Bottle Shop provided the necessary tools and education for local home-brewers to flourish. Fast froward to 2021 and Athens is home to six great breweries that foster a collaborative beer culture. A native of Northern India, Vishakha Tiwari has worked for KPMG in Bangalore, India, and as a Business Analyst for Accenture. Crystal Ivey Pivoted Careers with a Georgia MBA

Entry-level marketing positions were practically non-existent, so my first job out of school was as a case manager with the Georgia Department of Family and Children Services (DFCS). But I didn’t give up on my dream of brand management. Fast forward a few years, I decided to try again to break into the business world in brand management – this time using an MBA as my launch pad. This was also very special for me, because, as a first generation college student, an MBA was always one of my goals.
